Bunting® offers a complete line of stock sleeve bearings, flanged bearings and thrust washers made of powdered metal bronze. Bunting® sintered bronze stock bearings conform to ASTM chemical and physical properties, and are the first to include all ASTM standard sizes to ASTM recommended dimensions and tolerances. After forming, sintering and sizing, the bearings are vacuum impregnated with SAE 30 oil that provides lubricant which is metered from the bearing to the shaft during rotation.

  • Smooth housing bore chamfers reduce bearing installation time and eliminate press fit loss due to the shearing of metal from the bearing OD
  • Tooling for production of stamped housings should be designed to provide a radius edge which will act as a lead and furnish clearance for flange fillet
  • Sleeve cylindrical journal bearings are commonly installed by press fitting the bearing into a housing with an insertion arbor
  • For housings rigid enough to withstand the press fit without appreciable distortion and for bearings with thickness approximately one eighth of the bearing OD
  • Proper running clearance for bearings depends to a great extent on the particular application
  • Only minimum recommended clearances for oil-impregnated bearings used with ground steel shafting
  • Oil-impregnated units should be stored in suitable containers using plastic bags, wax paper, metal, glass
  • Properly stored and protected against dust, oil-impregnated bearings retain their oil supply
