In bearings NKX..-Z, the rolling element set is not a full complement ball system, as is present in bearings NX, but is retained by a cage. The ball and cage assembly corresponds to an axial deep groove ball bearing of series 511. As a result of the cage, these bearings are suitable for higher speeds than bearings of the full complement design. Type NKX..-Z has a sheet steel end cap, which holds the axial bearing component together i.e. the bearings are self-retaining. The cap is designed without lubrication holes and is rigidly connected to the housing locating washer of the radial bearing component.
